Village Learning Place (VLP)

is seeking an experienced fundraising-driven Executive Director to lead and grow our community-centered organization. The ideal candidate will be a visionary nonprofit leader with proven success in fundraising, revenue diversification, and donor relations. This position requires exceptional skills in major gifts cultivation, corporate sponsorships, grant development, and individual giving campaigns to ensure financial sustainability for VLP’s programs. In addition to fundraising expertise, the Executive Director must have strong leadership abilities to develop and retain a high-performing team across program management, operations, and development. This role also requires experience working effectively with a community-based board of directors to set strategic goals, drive impact, and strengthen the organization’s governance. About the Village Learning Place The Village Learning Place is a nonprofit neighborhood library and community hub in Charles Village, Baltimore. Originally a branch of the Enoch Pratt Free Library, the VLP is now an independent organization offering literacy programs, after-school enrichment (LINK), and cultural opportunities for all ages. We believe that libraries should not only provide access to books but also serve as centers for lifelong learning and community engagement. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Financial Sustainability (Primary Focus - 60%) Develop and execute a robust fundraising strategy, increasing revenue from individual donors, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and foundations. Lead donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts, building strong relationships to sustain long-term giving. Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, including earned income strategies, membership models, and planned giving programs. Oversee all grant-writing efforts, ensuring timely submissions and accurate financial reporting for foundation, corporate, and government grants. Expand and enhance the Village Vanguard major donor program, with a goal of raising $50,000 annually. Engage the Board of Directors in fundraising efforts, supporting their role in donor engagement and outreach. Leadership, Team Development & Organizational Management (25%) Develop and retain a high-performing team across fundraising, program operations, and administrative functions. Foster an inclusive, mission-driven workplace culture that values equity, collaboration, and professional growth. Directly supervise the leadership team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Maintain a strong partnership with the Board of Directors, facilitating governance best practices and supporting board recruitment and training. Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships (15%) Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for VLP, building relationships with key stakeholders, community leaders, and funders. Strengthen and expand collaborations with local schools, nonprofits, businesses, and government agencies. Advocate for contract reform and equitable funding policies for small nonprofits, particularly in state-funded reimbursement programs. Qualifications Significant nonprofit leadership experience , with a strong track record in

fundraising and revenue growth . Proven ability to

raise significant gifts

from individual donors, foundations, and corporate sponsors. Experience managing

government grants and nonprofit financial planning . Skilled in team leadership, staff development, and operational management. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders. Experience working with and reporting to a community-based board of directors.
