Requirements
- Experience: 1-2 years of inpatient palliative care consult experience is required
- Degree: Masters degree Physician Assistant or Master's/Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Certification: Current board certification as either a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Licensure: Active and unrestricted licensure to practice in the state of Michigan
Duties & Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status and symptoms.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Manage medications and treatments to alleviate pain and other distressing symptoms.
- Facilitates multi-professional support to provide joined-up care across care boundaries, enabling care at home and fewer avoidable admissions towards the end of life.
- Addresses the psychological, social, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Providing compassionate care to individuals with serious, sometimes terminal illness.
- This position is primarily inpatient, however, applicants should be open to some potential future outpatient clinic presence if future needs arise
