Work Shift Day: 8 hours
Job Description Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to promote optimum imaging procedures. Provides imaging services as defined by Title 17 (Radiologic Health Branch) and Title 22 (Department of Health Services) for the State of California. Applying the principles in assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and modifying patient imaging care as an active, continuous process. Schedule will require rotation for weekend, holiday and call coverage, which may also include rotation to other campus. CT Techs perform Diagnostic X-ray based on departmental needs. For the Los Gatos campus only:
Because the hospital is recognized by the Santa Clara County EMS Stroke Care System as a Designated Primary Stroke Center (PSC) (at the Los Gatos Campus only), the CT Tech may not always be relieved of all duty during a 30-minute meal period. When this occurs, the meal period shall be considered an "on duty" meal period and counted as time worked. An "on duty" meal period shall be permitted only when the nature of the work prevents an employee from being relieved of all duty and when by written agreement between the parties an on-the-job paid meal period is agreed to. The written agreement shall state that the employee may revoke the agreement at any time in writing. Job Specific Responsibilities: Limits radiation exposure to the patient and other staff members
Ensures the environment is safe at all times for patients and other staff members
Explains the Computed Tomography exam to the patient in a way that is informative, but also reassuring
Positions, transfers and properly immobilizes patients as required
Performs CT scanning procedures to include instructing patients and selecting techniques
Performs scanning, reconstruction of proper images, and post processing
Performs QA on all images prior to ending the exam and sending images to PACS
Accurately completes documentation according to hospital and department guidelines, e.g., EHR documentation of exam performed, rationale for exam, tech notes, consent forms, etc.
Performs quality control on CT equipment based on recommendations from the physicist, service engineer, and/or manufacturer as required
Evaluates personnel and department work volume and flow to ensure efficient patient care by prioritizing work according to urgency and resources
Follows safety procedures and guidelines and reports unsafe practices and conditions
Consistently and appropriately follows Universal Precautions
Keeps updated on CT developments through professional journals, on the job training, and other educational opportunities
Maintains clinical competency by assuming responsibility for continuing education and on-going modality updates
Assists in performing first aid, CPR and AED
Participates in peer competency review
Participates in the training and onboarding of new team members, as well as fellowship, interns and students
Reports equipment issues to clinical engineering and vendor service engineer per department policy guidelines
Is aware of and works within hospital and department safety guidelines, including reporting potential hazards and hazardous behavior
Uses appropriate body mechanics and lifting devices as needed
Job Expectations: Demonstrates job-specific, technical and clinical competence on all exams common on their shift(s), including but not limited to interventional procedures, cardiac imaging, etc.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
License/Certification/Registration Requirements Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography ARRT(R) and upon hire or within 9 months of hire, registered in Computed Tomography ARRT(CT)
Current California CRT Certificate
Current California Fluoroscopy Certificate
Certification in Venipuncture
BLS Certificate
Ages of Patients Served This position is responsible for the assessment, treatment and care of pediatric/adolescent adult and geriatric patients. Salary Range: $67.60 - $84.14 USD Hourly
