Job Title Transfer Admission Counselor

Job Description
The Transfer Admission Counselor is responsible for recruiting, advising, and supporting prospective transfer students throughout the admission process at McMurry University. This role focuses on building relationships with community colleges, military-affiliated students, and other non-traditional student populations, ensuring a seamless transition to McMurry. The counselor will guide students on transfer credits, degree pathways, financial aid options, and university resources to enhance transfer student enrollment and retention.
Essential Duties Summary Recruitment & Outreach
Develop and implement strategic recruitment initiatives targeting community college students, military personnel, and adult learners. Establish and maintain relationships with community college advisors, faculty, and transfer centers to promote McMurry's transfer programs. Travel on behalf of the university to attend transfer fairs, college visits, and military education centers to attract prospective transfer students. Weekends and nights during the travel season is required. Coordinate on-campus and virtual events for prospective transfer students, including campus visits, information sessions, and Transfer Orientation programs. Manage ongoing communication with prospective transfer students, including texting, telephone calls, and emails to assist them through the admissions funnel.
Transfer Advising & Enrollment Support
Provide one-on-one advising to prospective students regarding admission requirements, credit transfer policies, degree options, and financial aid opportunities. Conduct transfer credit evaluations in collaboration with the Registrar's Office to ensure accurate articulation of coursework. Assist students with navigating military education benefits, scholarships, and financial aid processes. Support transfer students through the application, acceptance, and enrollment process, ensuring a smooth transition to McMurry.
Collaboration & Institutional Support
Work closely with the Registrar, Academic Affairs, and Financial Aid Offices to improve the transfer student experience. Partner with faculty and academic advisors to develop clear transfer articulation agreements and degree pathways. Assist in development of marketing materials, website content, and social media strategies aimed at prospective transfer students. Support the establishment of territory goals and ongoing tracking of applications through the admissions funnel to identify trends and opportunities for growth.
Occasional Duties:
Assist with first-year recruitment efforts as part of the Admission team. Support university-wide student success initiatives and retention programs for transfer students. Host and facilitate virtual video calls, virtual open houses, and webinars for transfer students.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Business, Communications, or a related field. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills. Ability to learn new software tools quickly Ability to travel for recruitment events and work occasional evenings/weekends. Minimum Required Education Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field. Bilingual in English/Spanish is highly preferred Familiarity with CRM software (e.g., Slate, Salesforce) and student information systems. Knowledge of transfer policies, articulation agreements, and credit evaluation processes. Experience in admissions, academic advising, transfer student services, or enrollment management at a college or university. Experience working with community college students, military-affiliated students, and adult learners. Knowledge of financial aid processes, VA benefits, and transfer student scholarships.
