New Product Development Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL (Ravenswood Ave)

Employment Type: Full-time


Salary: $135,000 - $170,000 per year


Position Summary

A growing organization is seeking a New Product Development Engineer to oversee and guide technical efforts across multiple development programs. This role requires a motivated, results-driven engineer with expertise in product development, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary, multi-site environment. Candidates must have experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the technical design team within one or more programs.
  • Develop and communicate action plans based on program priorities.
  • Assist in defining planning and resource requirements to ensure program success.
  • Identify potential problems early and propose cost-effective, timely solutions.
  • Design, build, and test prototypes to evaluate and optimize performance.
  • Solve complex technical challenges while adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
  • Collaborate with injection molding tooling experts to implement DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) for high-volume production.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • 15+ years of product development experience.
  • Strong expertise in managing all technical aspects of device development.
  • Experience in high-volume production, injection molding, and automation.
  • Must have experience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and software.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple sites and departments.
