Rural Skilled Nursing Facility in Eastern Oregon , nestled beautifully between Malheur and Umatilla National Forests , is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN in OR) who has previously held a supervisory/ clinical leadership role in a SNF setting and who is interested in advancing to the Director of Nursing Services (DNS, DON) position.
This SNF is partnered with a hospital and provides lower acuity skilled nursing and long term care. This property is small, offering an ideal location for an Oregon RN who wants to launch themselves into a top leadership position and gain first hand experience to nurture their career and advance further over time.
Directors of Nursing are responsible for leading and supervising a nursing unit.
This position is ultimately responsible, and accountable, for the nursing care received by residents. The DON here will report to the Nursing Home Administrator.
Specifically, Director of Nursing job duties include :
- Directing the nursing program, including implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
- Overseeing hiring, firing, and development of nursing staff
- Communicating with families, residents, and physicians as needed
- Developing a business plan and budget for the nursing unit
- Participating in creating resident care plans and ensuring they are followed
- Ensuring the nursing unit is compliant with all local, state, and federal regulations

Ideal candidates will bring :
- Registered Nurse license in the state of Oregon (RN in OR )
- Previous experience as a clinical leader/ manager at least 6 months
- Knowledge of Skilled Nursing Facility regulations both State and Federal
- Stable tenure in prior jobs
- Measurable track record of success as shown through Survey results, stable staff retention rates, high or increased census numbers, etc.
- Upbeat and encouraging leadership style with clear communication of expectations & ability to mentor/ educate and grow future leaders
- Affinity for seniors & desire to see them well cared for and served
