Role DescriptionDick Law Firm is seeking a contract-based Xactimate Estimator to assist in property damage assessments, contents valuation, and business interruption calculations . This Houston-based position requires expertise in estimating losses from storms, explosions, and other insured events . The estimator will work closely with attorneys, adjusters, and clients to compile accurate damage estimates that support insurance claims and legal proceedings .
This is a contractor role due to the project-based nature of the work, with assignments driven by major storms, disasters, and catastrophic insurance claims .
Key Responsibilities- Estimate property damage using Xactimate , including structural damage, personal property losses, and business interruption expenses .
- Conduct on-site inspections and damage assessments to determine repair costs.
- Work with attorneys and adjusters to develop detailed and well-supported estimates for insurance claims and litigation.
- Analyze policy language to ensure claim estimates align with coverage terms.
- Prepare reports and cost estimates to support legal demands, settlement negotiations, and trials .
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and public adjusters to validate loss estimates.
- Ensure compliance with insurance claim procedures, industry standards, and legal requirements .
- Proficiency in Xactimate for property damage and loss estimation.
- Strong knowledge of first-party insurance claims and estimating methodologies.
- Experience in storm damage, fire damage, explosion-related losses, and business interruption calculations.
- Ability to read and interpret insurance policies and apply cost estimates accordingly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related software for data analysis.
- Experience in the legal or insurance industry is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Licensed adjuster or experience as an insurance adjuster is a strong plus .
