Job purpose Analyzes, troubleshoots, documents, and repairs digital imaging equipment. Performs hardware production activity for a variety of imaging products. Provides 'Tier-1' (non-escalated) technical assistance to technical support and self-service providers in support of digital imaging systems. Duties and responsibilities Diagnoses, repairs, inspects, and reports status of digital imaging and printing systems composed of Thermal Photo Printers, Digital Cameras, and other associated equipment. Provides technical support and internal training for digital imaging hardware and peripherals. Troubleshoots hardware to sub-assembly level with ability to replace defective component(s). Maintain color reproduction accuracy through alignment of thermal photo printers and/or cameras for optimal image quality. Reinstalls operating system software and digital imaging application software into related platforms. Configure systems to factory defaults and reconfigures to customer or sales demo as needed using provided specs. Responsible for repairing and maintaining the inventory of field-replacement equipment necessary to fulfill warranty agreement with customers. Documents and reports all noteworthy anomalies encountered during repair activity to next level supervisor. Meet repair quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction and meet production goals. Documents activities and repair actions using available forms and on-line systems. Assists Customer Service in responding to customer inquiries concerning various aspects of imaging systems operation, difficulties or other issues associated with the digital imaging products and peripherals. Assists with system and kiosk assembly efforts necessary to meet production requirements. Will execute production activities as needed, including equipment assembly, testing, packing, and kitting. Will seek guidance instruction from team leads and/or coworkers to continually improve performance. Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent GED. Three years of PC and/or digital imaging systems maintenance or support and/or technical support experience (or related area) required. Functional knowledge of digital imaging and printing systems Functional knowledge of PC based hardware platforms including computing devices and components (i.e. RAM, processors, mother boards, HDD/SSD drives, CD-ROM drives, scanners, digital cameras, and dye-sublimation printers) Have an eye for color reproduction accuracy and attention to detail for defects in printed images Functional ability to use calibration tools and test instruments Ability to take direction Ability to perform basic customer relation skills Ability to maintain knowledge of changing platforms Ability to interpret (and write draft proposals) technical documentation including ECOs (equipment change order), ECRs (equipment change request), and CARs (corrective action request). Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow co-workers Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Physical Demands The position requires the individual to spend extensive time at a desk working with programs and computer equipment including a variety of photographic and photographic related equipment in an office or laboratory environment. The position may also require some lifting of standard computer and computer related equipment up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus Ability to work in an office setting, and spend primary working hours at a desk using a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, postage machines, etc. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
