SMX is seeking an experienced
Human Resources Director
to lead and manage all human resources functions for a key business unit supporting global government contracts. This role will oversee HR strategies, processes, and compliance for a diverse workforce, including employees deployed worldwide in support of critical government missions. This role also provides leadership and supervision to the HR team supporting the business unit and is responsible for employee engagement, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR program implementation. The HR Director will report to the Senior HR Director and collaborate with other HR and business leaders to deliver effective solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in HR operations, government contracting regulations, and the ability to navigate the complexities of supporting both stateside and globally deployed employees. Responsibilities: Supervisory Responsibilities: Nurtures a positive working environment while managing HR initiatives to enhance the organizational culture. Manages and directs the daily workflow of the HR Management teams. Interviews, hires, and trains new employees in the department. Coaches, mentors and provides constructive and timely performance feedback. Counsels and terminates employees in accordance with company policies. Identifies professional development, training, and certification activities for HR management teams. HR Leadership: Supports the development and implementation of HR strategies that align with business unit goals, mission objectives, and corporate values. Acts as a trusted advisor to business unit leadership on workforce planning, talent management, and organizational effectiveness. Oversees HR strategies, processes, and compliance for a multifaceted workforce including employees deployed worldwide in support of critical government missions. Collaborates with business unit leadership to develop and administer department objectives, goals and strategy related to retention and engagement. Employee Relations and Global Support: Provides HR guidance and support to employees deployed across various global locations, ensuring compliance with labor laws, U.S. government contracting requirements and company policies. Manages complex employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions. Serves as primary HR contact for field-based employees and managers, addressing unique challenges of deployed employees. HR Process Optimization & Data Analytics: Identifies opportunities for process improvement within HR operations to support efficiency and scalability. Uses data-driven insights to support decision-making on employee engagement, turnover, and people strategies. Additional Duties/Responsibilities: Coordinates and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support organization compliance and strategy. Manages special projects to support department objectives and goals. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to senior leadership. Performs other duties as required. Requirements: Proven experience as an HR Director or similar role. Comfort with the uncertain; motivated to move forward, make decisions, and finalize details quickly once information is available. Ability to manage multiple priorities, prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate. Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to the needs of the organization and employees and shift quickly without losing momentum. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient with ADP or similar HRIS. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and complex employee relations matters with discretion and fairness. Experience supporting government contracting and familiarity with related compliance requirements. Ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with business leaders. Desired Skills: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. At least 10 years of progressive human resource management experience required, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role. Experience with Service Contract Act (SCA) contracts and workforce highly preferred. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred. US Citizenship required for work under DoD contracts. Application Deadline:
