Position Summary : Psivant Therapeutics is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Immunology and Translational Research to lead an integrated drug discovery team. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this role is crucial in driving key program inflection points from preclinical stages through clinical translation. The candidate will devise and implement translational strategies to establish preclinical proof of concept (POC) and early clinical pharmacodynamic readouts while mentoring a team of scientists and fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage program teams in the discovery and development of novel small molecules targeting inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Devise and implement translational research strategies to establish preclinical POC and early clinical pharmacodynamic readouts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of translational research with clinical development. Mentor and develop scientists, promoting a culture of scientific excellence and innovation. Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and competitive developments and integrate insights into research initiatives. Represent the program team in discussions with management, scientific advisors, and external stakeholders. Collaborate with key stakeholders to define clear translational research endpoints. Work with management to ensure progress towards goals and flexibly manage priorities in a dynamic, scientifically rigorous small company environment. Stay updated with the latest clinical and preclinical advancements in immunology and related fields. Qualifications
Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D. in Immunology, Pharmacology, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in immunology research, with a focus on inflammatory and autoimmune diseases including IBD, dermatological diseases, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Experience in early-stage clinical immunology is preferred. Proven track record of leading successful drug discovery and development programs. Small molecule experience is preferred. Strong understanding of translational research and its application to drug development. Proven experience in designing and executing translational immunology, pharmacodynamic, and patient selection assays. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse audiences ranging from junior team members to the Executive Team. Strong communication skills, including a track record of publications, presentations, and key contributions to regulatory documents (e.g., briefing documents, IND). Demonstrated ability to inspire, lead, and collaborate across teams, stakeholders, and peers.
