Job Overview:

Hartigan Outdoors is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman to lead high-end residential and commercial landscape projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong leadership skills, technical expertise in hardscape and softscape installations, and a passion for delivering top-quality work. As a Construction Foreman, you will supervise crews, manage project execution, and ensure that all landscape installations meet our high standards.

Hartigan Outdoors is a full-service landscaping and property maintenance company serving the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. We specialize in landscape design/build, hardscaping, plant installations, irrigation, lawn care, and snow removal. Our mission is to build and maintain stunning outdoor environments while fostering a team of skilled professionals who take pride in their craft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the landscape crew
  • Train and mentor team members on landscape installation techniques and safety protocols
  • Maintain a motivated and efficient work environment
  • Oversee installation of hardscapes (patios, retaining walls, walkways, outdoor kitchens, fire pits)
  • Lead crews in softscape installations, including trees, shrubs, perennials, sod, and mulch
  • Ensure grading, drainage solutions, and site preparation are properly executed
  • Project Management & Safety
    • Maintain project schedules and ensure on-time completion
    • Conduct quality control inspections to meet company standards
    • Enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance on all job sites
  • Equipment & Material Management
    • Oversee and maintain landscaping tools, machinery, and fleet vehicles
    • Track materials, inventory, and job site logistics
    • Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and crew members
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience leading a landscape crew or construction crew
  • Proven experience in high-end residential and commercial landscaping projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of hardscape and softscape installations
  • Ability to operate skid steers, excavators, trenchers, and other landscape machinery
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality control
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position
  • Monday - Friday with some seasonal flexibility
  • Year-round opportunities available (including snow removal and project management)
  • Work is set to begin in April
