The College of Pharmacy is seeking a resourceful, dynamic, and experienced individual to join its team. Since 1945, the College of Pharmacy has been educating students as the only College of Pharmacy in the state of New Mexico. The Student Recruiter plays a crucial role in attracting and retaining students for various academic programs. This position serves as a primary recruiter, engaging with prospective students, parents, educators, and community stakeholders through in-person and virtual outreach. The role requires local and regional travel, including weekend and evening events, as part of a strategic enrollment effort. This individual will work closely with admissions, financial aid, and academic departments to provide comprehensive guidance to potential students.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Serves as the primary recruiter for designated academic programs, representing the institution at college fairs, high schools, community colleges, and professional conferences.
  2. Provides program requirement details, career pathways, and financial aid information to prospective students.
  3. Develops and delivers engaging presentations in various settings, including recruitment fairs, campus tours, and virtual information sessions.
  4. Proactively reaches out to students, parents, educators, and community organizations through phone, email, and virtual meetings.
  5. Organizes and hosts recruitment events such as webinars, workshops, and campus visits.
  6. Coordinates recruitment activities for specialized early admission pathways and programs.
  7. Establishes and maintains strong relationships with K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and community partners.
  8. Serves as a liaison between the university and local school systems to foster academic partnerships and pipeline programs.
  9. Collaborates with faculty, staff, alumni, and industry professionals to support recruitment strategies.
  10. Builds a network of professionals in higher education to exchange best practices and improve recruitment efforts.
  11. Develops and implements student recruitment and retention strategies, including targeted outreach and mentorship programs.
  12. Creates and manages databases of prospective and current students to track engagement and enrollment trends.
  13. Collects and analyzes recruitment data, preparing reports and proposals to assess program effectiveness.
  14. Assists with admissions interview dates and student affairs events, supporting overall student engagement initiatives.
  15. Responds to inquiries from students, parents, and external agencies regarding admissions and program opportunities.
  16. Creates and distributes recruitment and retention resource materials for various stakeholders.
  17. Supports student affairs projects, including event planning and execution.
  18. Travels regularly within and outside the region for recruitment events, including occasional evening and weekend commitments.

Required Competencies

  1. Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences in various settings.
  3. Experience in student recruitment, admissions, or related higher education functions.
  4. Ability to build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and industry partners.
  5. Strong organizational and event-planning skills, including coordinating recruitment events.
  6. Proficiency in database management, data analysis, and reporting.
  7. Knowledge of admissions processes, financial aid, and student retention strategies.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  9. Have a valid driver's license or obtain a valid driver's license within thirty days of hire.
  10. Willingness to travel regularly and work evening/weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
