Job Summary
The Audio-Visual Director is responsible for the overall management and operation of audio-visual services within the hotel. This includes the setup, operation, and maintenance of AV equipment for various events, conferences, meetings, and special occasions. The director will lead the AV team, coordinate with clients and event planners, and ensure all equipment is in top working condition.
Key Responsibilities
AV Operations Management:
Oversee the setup, operation, and breakdown of AV equipment for events, including sound systems, projectors, screens, lighting, and video recording systems. Ensure the AV department operates efficiently during conferences, meetings, banquets, and special events. Manage the AV scheduling system and coordinate with clients to understand their needs.
Team Leadership and Training:
Supervise, train, and develop the AV team, ensuring high standards of performance. Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to team members. Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about the hotel’s AV equipment and are up to date with technological advances.
Customer Interaction:
Meet with event organizers and clients to discuss their AV requirements, offering advice on suitable equipment and solutions. Provide excellent customer service and ensure that client expectations are met for all AV services. Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and professionally during events.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure all AV equipment is well-maintained, operational, and up-to-date. Regularly inspect, service, and replace AV equipment as necessary. Keep inventory of AV assets and manage stock levels.
Budget Management:
Manage the AV department’s budget, ensuring costs are kept within company guidelines. Control pricing for AV services and equipment rentals for clients. Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality service.
Technical Expertise:
Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in the audio-visual industry. Provide technical support and advice to both internal staff and external clients.
Collaboration:
Work closely with hotel management, event coordinators, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless event execution. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., catering, housekeeping, security) to ensure events run smoothly.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Audio-Visual Technology, or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience. Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years in an audio-visual management role, preferably in a hotel or conference center environment. Extensive experience with AV equipment such as sound systems, projectors, video conferencing setups, and lighting. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to train and motivate staff.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of audio-visual equipment and troubleshooting. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple events simultaneously. Knowledge of budgeting and cost management.
Working Conditions Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
