Full-time, exempt position, typically Monday–Friday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings, weekends, and summer responsibilities for events, meetings, and professional development. As Nazareth School – San Diego’s School Principal, you will be part of a global setting and serve as a visionary leader, integrating the school’s philosophy and mission into daily operations while fostering academic excellence, faith formation, and a strong sense of community. In alignment with the Diocese teaching, this role provides strategic leadership in academics, administration, and school development to ensure a thriving and dynamic learning environment. What You’ll Do: Ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy, mission, and objectives with the vision of the Sisters of Nazareth and Nazareth School. Communicate and reinforce the school’s Catholic mission and values to faculty, students, and parents, reviewing and updating school philosophy annually. Oversee daily school operations, ensuring smooth coordination among administrative, instructional, and custodial staff. Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and support staff in collaboration with the Diocese and Sisters of Nazareth. Provide instructional leadership to enhance academic excellence, monitor teaching effectiveness, and oversee curriculum development. Develop and oversee the annual budget, monitor financial operations, and ensure compliance with diocesan and financial policies. Promote the school’s mission and programs through public relations, marketing, and community engagement efforts. Ensure the safety and security of school buildings and facilities, maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. What You’ll Need to Succeed: Master’s degree in educational administration and/or a California Administrative Credential, or a master’s degree in education with a Catholic Leadership Certificate. Five or more years of teaching experience, including at least three years in a leadership or administrative role, preferably in a Catholic or faith-based educational setting. Experience in financial management and fundraising within an educational setting (preferred). Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage overall school operations, foster a positive school culture, and maintain discipline conducive to learning. Expertise in curriculum development, instructional best practices, and fostering academic excellence. Deep understanding of Catholic school philosophy with the ability to integrate Catholic teachings into school programs and serve as a faith leader. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with staff, students, parents, and the community. Knowledge of state laws and regulations, including school safety protocols. Ability to develop and oversee budgets, manage fundraising efforts, and allocate resources effectively. Proficiency in educational technology and administrative systems to support school operations. Practicing Roman Catholic dedicated to personal faith development and fostering faith growth within the school community, with a strong commitment to the ministry of Catholic education.
