OVERVIEW:
This position manages the operations of a wastewater treatment plant to ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and reporting practices. Ensures discharge of effluents and waste products coming into the wastewater and rendering facilities are handled according to required city, state and federal regulations and oversees the maintenance and cleanliness of all the facilities grounds. Oversees sampling and testing systems, and the functionality of pumps, conveyors, blowers and other equipment. Ensures staff is up to date with all federal, state, and local regulations and environmental guidelines. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Performs operational maintenance on all water treatment systems.
- Keeps daily operational records.
- Provides a safe working environment and ensures all assigned personnel have proper safety equipment and tools for safe completion of assigned tasks.
- Analyzes operational data to determine changes and improvements needed to accomplish objectives.
- Ensures wastewater samples are correctly collected and sent to the lab for determining permit compliance.
- Oversees the operation of pre-treatment equipment.
- Ensures the proper operation of rendering and offal equipment.
- Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner.
- Performs a daily safety walkthrough.
- Provides guidance and leadership to all department personnel on shift.
- Manages operational efficiencies for your shift.
REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- 5 years of wastewater experience.
- Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience in wastewater.
- Class III Ohio Wastewater Operator (Required).
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer, database, and math skills.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work within timelines and in pressure situations.
- Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Occasionally works in an outside environment, including in inclement weather.
- May be exposed to temperatures below 28 degrees or up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- Work around animal odors.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of up to 110 db.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the company.
- Must frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.
- Exposure to dust, feathers, and chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.
- Ability to work in a stationary position, on feet for the entire shift.
