POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Controls Electrician is responsible for installing controls electrical components in Building Automation Systems (BAS). As the primary electrician on projects, they regularly read and understand control prints and know how to execute work without guidance. This position requires experience in laying out entire job wiring from networks to device wiring, and they collaborate regularly with team members and subcontractors.
• Understand devices and how to wire different manufacturers and types of controllers.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams as well as read and interpret equipment submittals.
• Advanced electrical knowledge and ability to work on high- and low-voltage equipment.
• Able to do the following:
• Understand how to terminate valves and other devices.
•Assess, troubleshoot, and fix electrical problems.
• Complete wiring and setup of VFDs.
• Successfully set up and research complex control devices.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC-related electrical motors.
• Test motors for amperage and voltage.
• Install, repair, and maintain temperature control devices.
• Conduct tests on existing installations and electrical components to determine faults and make necessary repairs.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Apprentice Electrician or Journeyman. • Five (5) years’ experience in the electrical field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Valid Driver’s License with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUI’s in the previous 5 years
Ability and willingness to work overtime, including holidays and weekends if needed
Ability to follow safety guidelines, including working with heights and in tight working conditions. Ability to operate power and hand tools safely.
This position requires working in diverse conditions, including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms, with exposure to noisy operating equipment, extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and the risk of electrical shock (high voltage).
Must be able to handle hazardous materials safely
