Position Overview:

The primary responsibilities of the Construction Carpenter will be to build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with various types of construction projects.

Essential Job Functions:

Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisor.

Cuts and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.

Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.

Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.

Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.

Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects.

Erect and dismantle scaffolding and/or ladders for assembly structures above ground level.

Repair or install windows, doors, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required.

Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.

Cleanup worksite and properly dispose of debris.

Qualifications and Experience:

Must be eighteen (18) years of age

Must have successful completed vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; or have at least three years of carpentry experience via on-the-job training

Must have prior experience reading and interpreting blueprints and instructions

Must have the desire and ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade

Must have a thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods
