Special Education Teacher

A Metcalf special education teacher develops and implements individualized education programs (IEPs), adapting instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, collaborating with other educators and parents, and assessing student progress to ensure learning milestones are achieved.

• Conducts assessments to identify students' learning needs and strengths.
• Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring they are tailored to each student's specific needs.
• Reviews and updates IEPs regularly to reflect student progress and changing needs.
• Provides individualized instruction, adapting general curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
• Develops and implements lesson plans and activities that promote student engagement and learning.
• May offer instruction in a variety of settings, including the classroom, small groups, or one-on-one.
• Collaborates with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
• Communicates regularly with families about student progress and IEP implementation.
• Facilitates and participates in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to the development and review of IEPs.
• Monitors student progress regularly, using data to inform instruction and make adjustments to IEPs as needed.
• Conducts formal and informal assessments to evaluate student learning and achievement.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and strategies used with students.
