PRIMARY PURPOSE: Direct and manage the overall athletic program for Frisco ISD.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Master’s degree preferred Valid Texas teaching certificate Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills : Excellent public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, parents, staff, and community members Knowledge of federal, state, and UIL policies governing athletics Knowledge of the overall operations of a comprehensive athletic program Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Ability to manage budget and personnel

Experience : Minimum of 5 years of successful experience as a teacher, coach, administrator, or supervisor, with preference given to campus administrative experience Central athletic office experience preferred MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Direct and manage the District’s athletic program and facilities. Articulate the District’s mission and goals in the area of athletics to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission. Prepare, review, and revise job descriptions for the Athletic Department. Work directly with campus principals in the recruitment, interviewing, and selection of qualified athletic personnel. Work directly with campus principals in the hiring of campus athletic coordinators and assistant athletic coordinators. Collaborate with the Director of Fine Arts and Cheer Coordinator to ensure programs are aligned and the line of communication is open. Collaborate with campus principals before major athletic decisions are made districtwide. Attend all monthly District leadership meetings. Evaluate high school coordinators. Ensure all coaches are evaluated and all evaluations are collected at the end of each school year by the Athletic Department. Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate all Athletic Department personnel and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Supervise and evaluate assigned Athletic Department personnel. Coordinate all District athletic scheduling. Manage District operations including directing ticket sales, employing game officials, and ensuring preparations of facilities. Implement District student management policies and communicate expected student behavior related to athletics, and ensure enforcement of student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Plan, organize, and oversee all athletic award programs including District signing day celebrations. Establish and maintain open lines of communication on vital issues with parents, students, and staff. Coordinate all Athletic Department communication systems such as handbooks and website. Implement the policies established by federal law, state law, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and local Board policy in area of athletics. Serve on and/or chair appropriate UIL committees. Develop and administer budget based on documented needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Embrace and be proactive in forming partnerships with outside entities that will benefit Frisco ISD students, District, and program.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors : Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying. May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
