Position Summary: The Marketing and Communications Manager will oversee the development, execution, and coordination of all non-event-related marketing initiatives, including social media, print and digital content, video production, email campaigns, website management, public relations, and media outreach. This role is key in shaping and executing strategies that elevate brand visibility, strengthen community engagement, and drive organizational impact. The Marketing and Communications Manager will continually evaluate and refine marketing strategies based on performance metrics and emerging trends, ensuring the organization’s voice is consistent, compelling, and resonates with target audiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee Non-Event Marketing and Communications: Manage all aspects of non-event marketing, media outreach, and public relations for House of Ruth Maryland (HRM), under the general supervision of the Director of Development (DOD). Collaborate on Social Media Strategy: In collaboration with the DOD, Events Marketing Manager, and Social Enterprise Manager, develop and execute the HRM Social Media Calendar, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and key messaging. Create and Execute Non-Event Marketing: Lead the creation and execution of non-event marketing initiatives, including social media content, email campaigns, website updates, direct mail appeals, and all print materials. Enhance Media Outreach: Work with the DOD and leadership team to grow HRM's media presence, positioning the organization as a thought leader and dominant voice in the field of intimate partner violence (IPV). This position is responsible for identifying aligned media outlets, crafting tailored messages, and executing the media outreach. Recommend Best Practices: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, making ongoing recommendations for improvement. Propose updates to the 2025 marketing calendar based on the performance of 2024 campaigns. Track and Report Metrics: Establish key performance metrics for social media and Google Analytics, providing monthly updates to the DOD and quarterly reports to the Leadership team. Create Engaging Content: Produce compelling content, including copy and graphics, to ensure that HRM’s social media and marketing materials are aligned with the organization’s programs, activities, strategic direction, and financial goals. Manage Project Timelines and Budgets: Develop and manage project timelines and budgets for print and digital marketing requests submitted by HRM staff, ensuring efficient execution of each initiative. Design Houseline Publication: Collaborate with the DOD and leadership team to design and produce the quarterly Houseline digital publication, ensuring high-quality, on-brand content. Create “Inside the House” Videos: Work with the DOD to record and produce quarterly “Inside the House” videos that highlight HRM’s programs and showcase staff and client stories. Lead Direct Mail Campaigns: Design and execute Direct Mail appeals including: Spring (SAAM), Fall (DVAM), and Year-End (EOY)—under the direction of the DOD. Email Marketing: Take responsibility for the creation and timely distribution of all HRM non-event emails, adhering to the established email calendar. Collaborate with the SE Manager and DOD to plan the RC email calendar. Gather and Approve Content: Coordinate with the DOD and leadership team to gather content (video, copy and graphics as required) for media and communications outreach. Email Campaign Reporting: Provide quarterly reporting on email campaign performance, meeting with the DOD for review before presenting results to the leadership team. Offer recommendations for optimizing future email campaigns based on past performance and best practices. Support Website Redesign: Assist with the redesign of HRM’s website in 2025, contributing as needed based on prior WordPress experience. Website Maintenance: Regularly update HRM’s website with new text, files, and photos, making suggestions for improving navigation and user experience. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining open lines of communication with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure their marketing and communications needs are met. Stay Informed about HRM's Work: Maintain a strong understanding of HRM’s programs, activities, strategic direction, and financial goals to inform the development of marketing and communication materials. *Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. Pay: $60,000 - $65,000 Experience, Education, Certifications/Licenses 3+ years of Marketing and Communications experience demonstrating increased responsibility handling a wide range or projects and proven project management skills preferably in a non-profit environment. BA/BS Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, or similar preferred. Understanding of creative development, media outreach, public relations, and communications. Demonstrated Graphic design skills through sharing of work portfolio. Experience in creating engaging social media content and managing multiple social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. Video creation and editing experience preferred. Working knowledge and experience using content management systems, social media management, and related web applications. Excellent demonstrated written, and verbal communication Experience in WordPress, Active Campaign, Social Pilot, Canva or Adobe preferred. Ability to understand intimate partner violence and how it affects the client population. Experience in working successfully across departments/teams to achieve objectives. Must be flexible, able to identify and resolve problems, manage vendors and maximize the work effort of others, and successfully manage competing priorities. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
