Overview
The R. Randall Rollins Center for Medical Education at Beebe Healthcare is seeking Core Faculty Members for it's Family Medicine Residency to assist the Program Director in the development, design, implementation, education and supervision of the new program. We are a 4-4-4 program with continued accreditation status with the ACGME.
Core Faculty will join an innovative family medicine residency program, working in collaboration with the Program Director (PD) and other faculty members. You will be part of creating and shaping the future of the family medicine residency program. Under the direction of the PD for the Family Medicine Residency Program, core faculty members serve as clinical leaders and resident physician mentors; assuring the delivery of high-quality education and patient care as part of a robust accredited residency program. Core Faculty members dedicate time to residency education, ensuring that all ACGME requirements are met, while providing excellent clinical care. Core faculty will split their time between administrative and clinical responsibilities, including the supervision of residents. This split is 60% clinical and 40% administrative.
Core faculty members must practice full spectrum family medicine including pediatrics, women's health, and inpatient.
Responsibilities
A.
Patient Care
- The Core Faculty Member will provide high quality patient care in a timely, cost-efficient manner to a broad range of patients consistent with the specialty of Family Medicine. Overall, the core faculty member will spend clinical time caring for patients from their own panel and supervising resident physicians. This will be in accordance with Beebe Healthcare requirements as outlined, but not limited to, the below:
i. Maintain board certification through regular CME activities and board examinations.
ii. Maintain personal panel of patients and provide supervision to the resident physicians in the outpatient and inpatient clinical settings.
iii. Provide care to newborns, children, women and adults in all settings.
iv. Proficient in common procedures within the scope of Family Medicine.
v. Participate in night call activities and inpatient rounds on patients of all ages.
vi. Participate in weekend call activities for the practice and residency.
ix. Uses resources (referrals and testing) and treatment appropriate to practice philosophy.
x. Engages in all practice policies/procedures including QA/QI projects.
xi. Maintains hospital privileges.
B .
Resident Education
- The core faculty member will spend time participating in the mentoring and education of resident physicians within the standards as outlined by the ACGME and includes, but is not limited to, the following:
i. Serve as a role model by precepting and seeing patients of all ages in the Family Medicine Residency Practice.
ii. Serve as attending physician on Family Medicine Hospital rounds and dedicate appropriate time and effort to teaching in the hospital setting.
iii. Attend didactics regularly and present lectures regularly throughout the academic year.
iv. Required to participate in developing and assessing required and elective curriculum design.
v. Serve as an advisor to assigned resident physicians, ensuring evaluations and problem solving as per policy.
vi. Completes required evaluation of resident physicians in office and hospital settings.
vii. Assists with the recruiting, interviewing, selection, and ranking of prospective resident physicians during recruitment season.
viii. Participates in Scholarly Activity projects with resident physicians.
ix. Maintains appropriate level of Scholarly Activities consistent with RC in Family Medicine Requirements.
C. Other Duties
- Core Faculty Members will perform other duties at discretion of program director that are designed to enhance the program:
i. Involvement in the community.
ii. Serving on other committees/ representing the program in national, state, and local organizations as required by the program director.
Requirements: ABMS or AOA board certification in Family Medicine. Current or ability to obtain medical licensure in the State of Delaware and appropriate medical staff appointment. Demonstration of professional behaviors that allow the Core Faculty to serve as a role model. Demonstrate values and behaviors consistent with Beebe Healthcare's values.
