Job Title: Grants Development SpecialistJob Description

The Grants Development Specialist provides pre-award services to help investigators develop and submit federal, state, foundation, private, and other research and non-research sponsored project proposals. The specialist also acts as a liaison between the Principal Investigator (PI), Grants Administration Specialists, and Clinical Trials Business Office Manager.

Responsibilities

Provide services in various aspects of the proposal preparation phase, including interpretation of sponsoring agency's guidelines, budget development, gathering documentation for sub-awards and subcontracts, coordination of required approvals, and regulatory guidelines.

Oversee and manage assigned PI research proposals, including reviewing project budgets and understanding submission guidelines.

Help manage up to 80 proposals per year and serve as a subject matter expert within the Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) for problem resolution for PIs.

Provide one-on-one personal service to collect and build administrative components of proposals.

Coordinate cost-sharing approval documentation.

Assemble all final proposal documents, perform initial proposal review, and hand off to the Grants Administration office.

Essential Skills

Experience with proposal development and partnering with PIs.

Experience using federal portals (e.g., grants.gov, Assist through NIH, foundation portals).

Understanding of Uniform Guidance, Research Finance, Clinical Trials, Subawards, and Data entry.

For Specialist level: 1-5 years of experience in pre-award/grants development.

For Sr. level: 5+ years of experience in pre-award/grants development.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required.

Minimum of one year of grant pre-award experience required, 3+ years preferred.

Experience in an academic or non-academic research healthcare organization is preferred.

CRA, CPRA, and/or CFRA certification preferred.

Work Environment

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days on-site. The location is either Orlando, FL or Jacksonville, FL, and candidates must be local to one of these locations. The position offers an opportunity to work behind the scenes with researchers to provide groundbreaking new treatments for children.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr.
