Job Duties

To enhance the correctional programs of the Commonwealth of Virginia by operating a viable business entity that provides jobs and work skills for sentenced offenders to help them successfully re-enter society and offers quality goods and services to our customers, on time and at a fair price.

Provides the supervision and training of inmates in the production of apparel, quality standards, shipping and receiving, inventory, and warehousing. Achieves through inmate workers VCE's goals of producing and shipping quality products, accurate and complete orders delivered on time, and develops the inmate workers' hard and soft skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of apparel manufacturing. Demonstrated skill in effective planning and organizing, record-keeping, problem-solving, quality management; and developing, directing, correcting, and motivating others. Ability to adapt to change, work independently, resolve problems, and perform effectively in complex work situations and under the pressure of tight deadlines, clearly communicate orally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. High School Diploma or GED. Work experience in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Considerations

Experience with MRP/ERP systems. Demonstrated proficiency in continuous improvement practices and concepts. Experience in quality programs and production floor quality improvement initiatives, and prior lead or supervisory experience. Forklift License or previous experience with transporting pallets.
