About the Team

The Children's Institute early intervention programs and individualized early intervention services for children with developmental delays are provided directly in the home. Services include physical, occupational, speech, vision, and hearing therapies, along with developmental instruction and social work for children from birth to age three years old.

About the Position

The Children's Institute is seeking an

Education/Developmental Specialist

for Early Intervention

to provide services in the Western part of Allegheny County area and to partner with parents and caregivers.

This is a modified part-time position.

As a Developmental Specialist you will provide early intervention services utilizing the Home-Based Coaching Model as endorsed by the State and mandated by Allegheny County to meet the IFSP goals for Early Intervention. Must be comfortable providing EI services in a home environment with the parents and children while maintaining confidentiality. Travel required. EI provides flexibility in work schedules. Job responsibilities include: Schedule appointments that meet the IFSP guidelines and maximizes productivity. Complete all necessary documentation for caseload management, including but not limited to: progress notes, billing sheets, data collection, travel, and attendance records. Facilitate appropriate interactions with families, peers and other agency professionals in order to provide a cohesive therapeutic plan for children. Maintain a working knowledge of current practices within the profession such as assessment tools and therapy approaches, to provide appropriate intervention strategies for children and families. Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education or Family Studies is required. One year of full time or full time equivalent experience working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families is required. Must have a valid PA driver's license and a reliable transportation. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel software.
