Job Summary

To contribute to the efficient operation of the school's office so that the office has a positive impact on students' education and maintains an effective role in the educational process.

Essential Duties

  1. Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy yet productive and smoothly run office.
  1. Takes and transcribes dictation of various types, including correspondence, reports, notices, and recommendations for administration.
  1. Maintains a regular filing system, as well as a set of cumulative and confidential files, and processes incoming correspondences.
  1. Maintains a schedule of appointments and make arrangements for conferences.
  1. Process incoming and outgoing records on students.
  1. Welcomes visitors and arranges for their comfort.
  1. Maintains such student records as shall be required.
  1. Receives and routes all incoming call, records messages promptly and courteously.
  1. Maintains daily teacher attendance records, records of substitutes; forwards reports to payroll clerk monthly.
  1. Assists teachers in preparing instructional materials with prior approval of Principal.
  1. Administers first-aid to children (only in cases of minor injury).
  1. Maintains student attendance registers and files report with the School Board Office monthly.
  1. Performs such other secretarial and clerical duties as may be assigned by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required)

Must be a high school, business, or commercial school graduate and two years of secretarial experience is required. Ability to perform general office duties and operate standard office machines and/or equipment necessary for duties assigned. Ability to demonstrate satisfactory performance in typing, filing, record keeping, and office procedure. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
