Position Overview
The Emory University School of Medicine Department of Urology is seeking a fellowship-trained faculty member in Trauma and Reconstructive Urology to join its esteemed faculty practice in Atlanta, GA. This individual may also have the opportunity to serve as Chief of Urology at Grady Memorial Hospital, a Level I trauma center in Atlanta.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and compassionate reconstructive urologist to work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities and cutting-edge surgical techniques. The department is also seeking urologists at the Associate Professor or Professor level to support its expanding practice, which serves Emory Healthcare, Georgia’s most comprehensive academic medical center, as well as affiliated practices. Faculty members benefit from a strong internal referral network across Georgia and neighboring states, offering a robust patient base and opportunities for collaboration.
Clinical and Academic Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in treating both male and female patients with complex reconstructive needs, including trauma-related conditions. Emory’s reconstructive urology practice focuses on bladder and genital reconstruction, urogynecologic reconstruction, neurologic conditions affecting the urinary tract, and prosthetic surgery. Expertise in procedures such as urethroplasty, penile prosthetics, artificial urinary sphincters, and complex genitourinary reconstruction is highly desired. Experience or interest in gender-affirming surgery is welcomed.
Beyond clinical care, the faculty member will play a key role in teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to the next generation of urologists. Qualifications
Candidates must have completed an ACGME-accredited urology residency and fellowship training in trauma and/or male reconstructive urology. Board certification or eligibility in urology is required, along with a valid, unrestricted medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of Georgia. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical, surgical, and communication skills, a commitment to patient-centered care, and a desire to engage in collaborative, interdisciplinary work. A Controlled Substance Registration and DEA certificate are also required.
