Job Description/Summary

The position of Admissions Recruiter is responsible for identifying, informing, engaging and recruiting prospective students to enroll in Sonoran University’s academic programs. Recruitment activities include phone, SMS and Email outreach, conducting presentations, webinars, and podcasts for students and undergrad advisors, travelling in and out of state to various fairs, conferences, and events to further admission goals. This position utilizes Salesforce, a customer relationship management system, marketing systems, and Office products to complete their duties and must be comfortable working with technology to analyze prospective student records and document all recruitment interactions and activities.

Direct Responsibilities:

The Admissions Recruiter is directly responsible or provides support for the following
  1. Acquiring and demonstrating a thorough knowledge of Sonoran’s mission, programs, admission policy and application procedures, and familiarity with academic program career paths.
  2. Meeting recruitment goals by working with prospective students in the pipeline from their first inquiry to their matriculation into a program
  3. Disseminating informational material to prospective students via email, mail, or in person interactions.
  4. Contacting prospective students by phone, text and email, discussing college program offerings and answering questions about admission requirements, application process, enrollment process, curriculum, student life, and career options.
  5. Administrative duties include ensuring that prospective student information is captured in our Customer Relationship Management System, Salesforce, accurately and according to admissions processes and procedures
  6. Participate in the planning and implementation of on-site and virtual admissions events including but not limited to open houses, tours, student experiences, presentations.
  7. Represent Sonoran University at local, state, regional and out of state events as assigned. These include, but are not limited to, undergraduate college visitations, local and regional graduate and career fairs, health career programs, AANMC events, advisor presentations, conferences and community fairs.
  8. Responsible for planning, implementing, and collaborating with marketing professionals on various in person and virtual recruitment activities including webinars, podcasts, presentations, and engaging with individuals on social media channels.
  9. Assist with gathering documents and materials related to the student application and working with Salesforce administrators to ensure any issues, errors, or discrepancies are resolved in a timely manner.
  10. Explore new opportunities and develop innovative strategies to build sustainable relationships within local colleges/universities.
  11. Attend regularly scheduled Admission Staff meetings and other appropriate meetings as required.
  12. Maintain a weekly report of activities, including phone and written correspondence, visits, on-campus programs, and other relevant information required by the Admissions Office and reporting on spotted trends or areas of concern affecting recruitment of students.
  13. Contribute to students’ experience to positively impact enrollment. Maintain contact with enrolled/re-entering students as necessary. Provide follow-up on a regular basis to ensure student satisfaction and student success.
  14. Other duties as assigned
Experience/Skills Required:
  • 2 years – work experience in education sales/recruitment environment, preferably at a graduate level, interacting virtually and in person with students.
  • 1 year experience preferred with utilizing Salesforce in an educational environment.
  • Experienced with delivering in-person and virtual presentations to support recruitment and admissions activities and events.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of admissions and recruitment programs, including the ability to ensure compliance with applicable governmental guidelines and regulations.
  • A proven ability to meet established goals and strategic objectives
  • Candidate must posses strong communication skills and able to convery information in a clear, succinct, professional, and kind manner
  • Demonstrate exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Display advanced proficiency using Salesforce, Outlook, Teams, and other Office 365 products
  • Works collaboratively with team to accomplish admission goals and initiatives
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities, resolve conflicts effectively, and maintain clear communication to perform essential functions.

Education Requirements:

Minimum Education

/Certifications Bachelor’s degree in field related to area of assignment

Desired Education/Certifications

Master’s degree in field related to area of assignment.


The university will also consider applicants with equivalent combinations of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment Requirements:
  • Requires annual travel, including overnight trips, to fulfill recruitment and outreach responsibilities.
  • Must be able to carry marketing materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. while traveling.
  • Occasional weekends and evenings are required to support admissions events.
  • The position is a hybrid position requiring up to 3 days on campus a week. Training may require being on campus 5 days a week until able to work independently.
  • Involves extensive periods of sitting, keyboarding, and using a computer mouse.
  • Occasionally requires standing for extended periods and walking moderate distances to complete tasks.
