Sustainability Program Office (SPO)

is dedicated to advancing SHC’s sustainability initiatives, advocating for practices that minimize our environmental impact and promote the health and well-being of our communities while striving to create a more sustainable future for all we serve. The Energy Manager is responsible for coordinating, championing, monitoring, overseeing, planning, and reporting on all aspects of the

and sustainability goals. This role is responsible for directly managing energy efficiency projects, rebates applications and management, building optimization efforts, and supervision of carbon and energy data, metrics, and reporting. This is an anchoring for SPO, reporting directly to the Executive Director of Sustainability Programs. A Brief Overview This enterprise-wide position, within the Sustainability Program Office (SPO), is responsible for contributing to and executing on the multi-year energy, emissions, and water strategy. The Energy Manager partners with Facilities Systems Engineering in the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals while prioritizing energy conservation and reduction of combustion sources. Performs energy and water efficiency studies using best practice techniques. Reports on findings and provides recommendations through cross-functional advocacy. What you will do Management of Utility Budget and Provider Relationships - Ownership of utility cost centers, maintain relationships with utility providers and develop budgets for utility cost centers. Energy Efficiency Program Leadership – Develop a strategic energy & water master plan in partnership with Energy Engineer & Systems Engineering, conduct periodic ASHRAE energy and water audits, submit funding requests, select vendors, partner with Facilities Field Services on energy conservation measure implementation and training building operators on energy conservation practices. Analytics & Reporting – Evaluates, analyzes and reports on energy & water efficiency metrics; ensures accurate records are maintained and energy monitoring data is collected regularly. Project Management – Develops formal proposals for new projects including projected costs and energy savings. Provides regular status updates for all current projects. EoC Utilities Subcommittee Participation – Participates in the Environment of Care (EoC) Utilities Subcommittee. Assists in the development of resiliency plans & curtailment guides. Technical Expert - Reviews new construction and major renovation projects; Identifies energy saving opportunities; Keeps abreast of legislation and ensures compliance. Energy Procurement - Liaises and negotiates with contractors/service providers to meet organizational goals. Culture of Sustainability – Develop and deploy employee engagement programs and education on energy & water conservation practices. Collaboration & Partnership – Works closely with Systems Engineering & organizational partners on new technologies & decarbonization tools; collaborates on the energy, emissions and water strategy to meet SHC’s organizational goals and Sustainability commitments. Education Qualifications Job requires a Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university. Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Master’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university Preferred. Experience Qualifications Minimum Five (5) years of progressively responsible directly related work experience. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible directly related work experience Preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Energy Management Program Development Energy Industry Regulations Environment of Care (EoC) Standards Working Knowledge of Health Care Access & Information (HCAI) Standards, Codes, and Regulations Measurement and Verification (M&V) Building Management & Automation Systems Energy Efficiency Practices in Lighting, Building & Business Equipment Utility Rate Programs Budget Management Project Management Vendor Management and Contract Negotiation Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to create and deliver presentations to individuals and groups Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Licenses and Certifications Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) preferred. CEM - Certified Energy Manager Certification preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
