Location: Columbia, SC- Hybrid
Duration: 6 Months contract
Job Summary: The Microsoft 365 / Entra Cloud Administrator is responsible for the administration, planning, implementation, maintenance, security monitoring, and support of the agency's Microsoft 365 and Entra cloud services. This role requires expertise in Azure AD, Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS), Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Intune, and other Microsoft cloud technologies. The administrator will play a key role in managing security, compliance, and performance across Microsoft cloud environments while ensuring business needs are met.
Daily Duties & Responsibilities: Administer, configure, deploy, and maintain Microsoft 365 and Azure AD environments. Implement and support Microsoft Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) solutions, including Azure Information Protection, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office, and Defender for Endpoint. Analyze enterprise systems and business needs to implement and optimize Microsoft 365 services. Monitor Microsoft cloud environments for security risks, log events, and performance issues; apply necessary security practices. Maintain hybrid M365 and Azure AD environments, including Group Policy configurations. Maximize Microsoft 365 security controls using industry best practices. Participate in change management processes and ensure compliance with security-based documentation, deployment strategies, and change log reviews. Identify, assess, and communicate risks to the CIO and IT teams. Develop and maintain technical documentation following agency policies and state security standards. Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for technical and non-technical staff, providing relevant documentation and training. Provide weekly status reports on accomplishments, planned tasks, and potential roadblocks. Required Skills:
Enterprise Microsoft Azure / Entra administration (Microsoft 365, Azure AD). Expertise in architecting and managing Office/Microsoft 365 service environments. Experience deploying Microsoft cloud infrastructure technologies. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Purview compliance, security, and search intelligence. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Defender ATP, Defender Identity, and Microsoft Intune. Proficiency in Power Apps, Power Platform, Dynamics 365 Apps, and Power BI. Experience with routine network maintenance in Microsoft environments. Office 365 Exchange administration and Office configuration skills. Expertise in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Stream administration. Ability to effectively communicate with IT teams, business users, and vendor partners. Preferred Skills:
Strong time management skills to meet project deadlines. Excellent decision-making and critical-thinking skills. Strong oral and written communication skills for effective collaboration. Ability to create technical documentation demonstrating working knowledge. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to learn and support new technologies while training others. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to multitask effectively. Proven experience in end-user support and technical support teams. Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently. Required Education & Certifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Network Security, Computer Science, or Information Systems/Technology Management OR equivalent work experience. Preferred Microsoft Azure Associate or Expert Certifications, such as:
