Saydel Community School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Drama Director to lead and grow our middle school and high school theater program. This individual will be responsible for directing a fall play, engaging students in all aspects of theatrical production, and fostering a love for the performing arts. The ideal candidate will have experience in theater direction, a talent for inspiring students, and strong organizational and communication skills. Key Responsibilities:

Production Leadership:

Select, plan, and direct the fall play, ensuring an engaging and high-quality performance. Student Recruitment & Engagement:

Actively recruit and encourage student participation in acting, stage crew, and other production roles, with an emphasis on increasing program involvement. Collaboration:

Work closely with fellow staff members, administration, and the auditorium manager to coordinate rehearsals, performances, and logistics. Theatrical Development:

Provide students with opportunities to develop acting, stagecraft, and technical theater skills. Scheduling & Organization:

Create a clear rehearsal schedule, manage production timelines, and oversee all aspects of the show’s execution. Communication:

Maintain open communication with students, parents, and school staff regarding expectations, schedules, and program needs. Budget & Resources:

Work within a budget, manage costumes, props, and set pieces, and coordinate fundraising or sponsorships if necessary. Theater Management:

Ensure responsible use of the auditorium and maintain a positive relationship with the facility staff. Qualifications:

Experience in directing theatrical productions, preferably at the middle or high school level. Strong ability to motivate and mentor students in a positive, inclusive environment. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, students, and community members. Knowledge of technical theater elements such as lighting, sound, and set design is a plus. Flexibility in working evening and weekend hours for rehearsals and performances. Preferred Qualifications:

Teaching experience in theater or a related field. Background in performance, stage management, or technical theater.
