Dallas Center - Grimes, a progressive Central Iowa District, with an enrollment of 3,500 students, is seeking aDirector of Operationsto achieve the school’s vision and goals. TheDirector of Operationsis r esponsible for planning, construction renovation and maintenance of district facilities. Provide leadership, guidance, direction, coordination and administrative services among and between these areas. Oversees the operations of new construction, renovations, facility utilization, and maintenance. Works in conjunction with the Superintendent on intergovernmental agreements (IGA), property management and long range planning. Has responsibility for creating and administering building funds, capital reserve funds and department operating budgets. TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Excellent leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
Ability to understand complex construction contracts and technical specifications.
Ability to work with internal and external legal counsel.
Ability to provide budgetary input, evaluates, and manages budgets.
Ability to promote and follow Board of Education policies, Superintendent policies, building and department procedures.
Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience as a school administrator preferred
Management and administration experience in planning, construction, and facilities management, preferably with an education institution.
