Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent B Business Services, plan, organize, coordinate and direct the District=s Transportation Services Program; supervise, counsel, train and evaluate assigned personnel; serve as liaison and provide assistance to District officials, staff, guests and public service agencies as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to: a Bachelor's Degree in business, transportation management, public administration, or related field and five years increasingly responsible experience in school transportation. A Bachelor's Degree is highly desirable.

A valid CA Driver's License is needed within the first 6 months of employment. Until then, candidates could possibly qualify with an out-of-state license. Essential Duties

Plan, schedule, implement and review transportation services including regular, special needs, extra-curricular, and other services related to transportation. E

Implement relevant Transportation Services policies, rules, guidelines, laws, and regulations necessary for the efficient operation of the District's Transportation Services Department. E

Serve as District and department liaison or representative at various meetings and committees as required; confer with district administration and provide information to school and district Administrators with transportation services concerns or questions. Attend IEP meetings as necessary for special needs pupils. E

Develop goals and objectives which relate to the District's Strategic Plan in order to meet Transportation Services program needs.

Select, train and supervise Transportation Services Department personnel as assigned; evaluate the performance of assigned personnel, and establish annual performance goals and objectives. E

Interpret, implement and assure compliance with Department, State and Federal policies, procedures, and objectives; maintain accurate records; develop and implement District pupil load, service, extensions, modifications and other phases of Transportation Services Department operations. E

Prepare, monitor, and recommend changes to the Transportation Services Department budget and work project requirements; submit to appropriate personnel for approval; review and authorize all fund expenditures according to established procedures. E

Respond to and investigate, traffic collisions/accidents involving District buses and vehicles, employee industrial illness/accidents, notify and work in cooperation with city and outside law enforcement agencies as needed. E Communicate with a variety of transportation, and governmental agencies such as the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Sheriff=s Department, and Department of Motor Vehicles to assure compliance with student transportation laws, regulations, policies, procedures and all other applicable codes. E

Administers the District=s Alcohol and Controlled Substance program as prescribed by State and Federal Regulations for safety sensitive positions. E

Operate a computer to prepare and maintain a variety of related records and reports as required.

Assure compliance with State regulations and District policies and procedures pertaining to employee and workplace safety; conduct periodic safety inspections of facilities and equipment.

Operate a variety of equipment, including but not limited to, District vehicles, two-way radios, telecommunications equipment, tape recorder, and copier; assure equipment and tools are maintained in proper operating condition.
