Job Summary:
To provide transmission architecture recommendations and requirements for ORV transmission systems.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Coordinate with powertrain, vehicle architect, commercial teams to develop platformed transmission solutions supportive of short and long range plans.
Work with the relevant product teams to develop technology roadmap plans based on industry trends and key stakeholder goals.
Develop/Codify/Govern key transmission sub system level requirements
Guide system trade off discussions/decisions with appropriate system engineering tools
Enable efficient/consistent execution of systems engineering methodologies
Collaborate across all powertrain engineering functions to ensure robust planning and execution
Vendor relationships – product portfolio roadmaps/etc.
Benchmarking/monitoring of competitive state of the art.
Leads technical resolution of cross functional issues in the early phase to ensure the correct balance of customer requirements and business needs.
Staying informed about industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate cutting-edge advancements into designs.
Ability to ride ATVs and SxSs for the purpose of field development and performance evaluation.
Analyzes customer satisfaction and quality data for internal and competitive products.
Takes a proactive, leadership role by acting as a customer advocate and technical ‘referee’ for cross-product attributes
Analyze manufacturing and field problems and recommend and implement solutions.
Review and assist with developing and implementing process control plans.
Other duties as required.
Education, Skills and Knowledge:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or closely related curriculum required.
10+ years of experience
Design and development experience required.
Excellent communication skills required
Understanding and experience with driveline components including gears, splines, shafts, bearings, transmission cases and CVTs preferred.
Understanding and knowledge of driveline related component manufacturing processes including casting, forging, machining, hobbing, honing, shaping, grinding, molding, stamping, heat treating, plating and powder metal preferred.
Pro-E and PRS experience preferred.
Experience with GD&T, dimensional stack-ups and FMEA preferred.
Experience with system specifications preferred.
Experience with systems engineering tools preferred (Tradespace/Trade off/Requirement management/etc)
Creative, innovative, decisive and prone to action.
Quality and customer focused.
Lab testing and data acquisition experience preferred.
Novi, MI location requires frequent travel to MN.

The pay range for Minnesota is $127,000 to $167,000 per year. Individual salaries are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
