GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The QMS Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. This role involves process improvement, internal audits, documentation management, and supporting quality assurance activities to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.


CORE & ESSENTIAL: TASKS:


  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, or other applicable standards.
  • Create and manage quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
  • Perform internal audits, gap analysis, and process reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify non-conformances and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality processes are integrated into product development and manufacturing activities.
  • Support external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Provide training on QMS processes and quality standards to employees.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper document control and change management practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Possession of a post-secondary degree in engineering, building and construction, or quality management degree is required. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Certification in Lead Auditor or Quality Management Systems is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction; preferably in roofing and/or building envelope, is required. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IATF 16949, or other quality management standards. Experience with internal and external audits. Strong understanding of CAPA, root cause analysis, and risk management tools. Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions for customers. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to learn new concepts/procedures quickly. Must be able to work under pressure and on a short deadline. Must be results-oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications and quality management software. Must have the ability to learn new concepts and procedures quickly. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Must have the ability to travel domestically, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a valid state motor vehicle driver’s license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record are required. Ability to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and overnight travel required.
