Job Summary:

The Senior Brand Manager is a critical role in our marketing organization, responsible for driving brand performance and innovation for Chosen Foods. The role is a general management role with P&L responsibility and includes developing strategic business, innovation, and marketing plans to achieve volume, profit, and market share objectives. All responsibilities are in service of reinforcing brand strategy and advancing our mission.


Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-Day Brand Steward -The role is a general management role with P&L responsibility and includes the development of strategic business and marketing plans to achieve volume, profit, and market share objectives.
  • Identify and address knowledge gaps in consumer, brand, product, business, and marketplace to build business plans for and support the commercialization of products, renovation opportunities, and display vehicles in collaboration with the cross-functional team.
  • Influence sales priorities (e.g., distribution and merchandising priorities, trade/promo guidelines), lead new item launch plans and provide ongoing sales support.
  • Partners with other SBM to make sure plans work complementary together to drive total brand.
  • Consumption Reporting and Associated Strategic Actions - Lead monthly business reporting, leveraging syndicated data to explain key drivers of prior month and year-to-date performance - Identify and implement actions to improve business performance.
  • Ongoing business diagnostics, adaptations, and planning - Analyze and leverage insights from syndicated and consumer research to identify and respond to changing consumer preferences and competitive activities, mobilizing "real time" adaptations to brand plans where needed.
  • Support the shopper and ecomm team in the execution of brand strategy and new item launches.
  • Owns all innovation and renovation projects within category scope, including leading project meetings, owning timeline accuracy, and holding team accountable to launching on time and in full.
  • Leads artwork briefing and creation.
  • Partners with R&D to brief and lock formula.
  • Partners with Insights and actively seeks to collect data beyond IRI, syndicated and proprietary, to round out learnings and inform.
  • Partners with Finance to track P&L impacts and make recommendations through innovation cycle.
  • Partners with Supply Chain to understand operational needs and impacts to project and timelines.
  • Pays attention to food culture and health and wellness trends, bringing the outside into the organization to support better commercialization of on-trend products.

Professional Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate is a proven marketer with a track record of growing businesses through leadership of cross-functional teams, a passion for the consumer and a bias for action.
  • This role requires strong analytical skills and knowledge of common business and marketing frameworks that will be leveraged to optimize and execute the strategy.
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, finance, or a related business field, an MBA, or a plus.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant brand management experience at a consumer-packaged goods company.
  • Experience with full P&L ownership, forecasting, business planning, and execution.
  • Track record of success leading both external agency partners and internal cross-functional teams, including Consumer Insights, R&D, Sales, Operations, and Finance.
  • Experience leveraging syndicated data to explain key drivers of business performance and craft data-driven recommendations and strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to draw insightful conclusions from consumer research, and translate them into actionable business strategies and tactics
  • Familiarity with the innovation stage-gate process and experience leading innovation/renovation projects from concept to launch
  • Ability to effectively lead multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior business leaders
  • People management experience
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and IRI/Nielsen syndicated data

Work Environment:

Work is performed inside a temperature-controlled office building with open floor plan. This job operates in a professional office environment with a business casual dress code. This role will routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
