Quality/Process Engineer (Plastic Injection Molding) - JPCR4732
Salary: up to $60,000 + Benefits

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Quality/Process Engineer for our facilities near the Framingham, MA region. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the successful completion of projects and the implementation and maintenance of multiple quality management system elements in accordance with customer and company requirements. This role demands hands-on experience with injection molding processes and will work closely with production teams to improve processes, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high-quality standards for various plastic resins, including polyethylene, polypropylene, TPU, and other engineered/commodity resins.
Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain quality management systems (QMS) to ensure compliance with customer and company requirements. Regularly evaluate and improve the systems to ensure continuous improvement in quality standards.
Evaluate existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions that drive efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. Focus on both cost-saving measures and enhancing production workflows.
Utilize hands-on experience or technical understanding of injection molding processes to provide support for troubleshooting and process development. Ensure that molding processes are operating efficiently and producing high-quality products.
Work with a variety of resins, including polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), engineered resins, and commodity resins. Understand the material properties and how they impact the molding process and product quality.
Assist production teams in identifying and solving production problems related to injection molding. Collaborate on developing new processes and products to meet customer requirements and improve manufacturing efficiency.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure the successful execution of projects. Communicate effectively with internal teams and customers on project status, quality issues, and process improvements.
Maintain accurate documentation for quality management activities, including quality plans, control charts, process flow diagrams, and inspection records. Prepare regular reports for management regarding quality metrics and process improvements.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in Quality and/or Process Engineering, preferably in an injection molding manufacturing environment.
Proficient understanding of injection molding processes and their application to various resins such as polyethylene, polypropylene, TPU, engineered, and commodity resins.
Strong hands-on troubleshooting and process improvement abilities. Ability to identify root causes of production issues and implement corrective actions.
Familiarity with quality control systems and their application in a manufacturing environment, including process audits, material testing, and compliance with industry standards.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams. Clear and concise communication skills to report on project progress and quality improvements.
Experience with quality management software and tools such as Minitab, SPC, or other statistical analysis tools is a plus. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is a benefit.
