Position Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architectural Project Manager to lead, manage, and oversee architectural projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will take charge of the project from the Schematic Design phase through Design Development, Construction Drawings, Bidding/Contract Negotiation, Construction Administration, and Closeout phases. This role requires a deep understanding of architectural design, project management, and coordination across multiple disciplines, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering.

The Architectural Project Manager reports directly to the Director of Architecture.


Job Duties and Responsibilities


  • Lead the coordination and integration of design intent and design standards with design/engineering consultants to develop comprehensive construction documents
  • Manage the integration of various building systems, including Structural, Architectural, Civil, Landscape, Mechanical, Electrical, Audio Visual, Low Voltage, and Plumbing, into the overall design
  • Implement and enforce quality assurance and quality control standards for all contract documents and drawings to ensure accuracy and high-quality construction documentation
  • Oversee the preparation, submission, and approval of all necessary building/construction permits
  • Provide technical guidance and solutions, offering architectural detailing to ensure consistent and high-quality design
  • Support less experienced team members through mentorship and technical guidance
  • Prepare project specifications in line with design and construction requirements
  • Manage client relationships, including attending meetings, providing updates, and ensuring that project schedule milestones are met
  • Coordinate and ensure that construction activities align with project timelines and budgets
  • Oversee the procurement and management of project bids and contracts
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of development simultaneously


Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture and a minimum of three years of architectural project management experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of architectural experience under the direct supervision of a Registered Architect
  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience in single family residential architectural systems (IBC Type V Construction/wood stud framing), assemblies, detailing, and means and methods
  • High proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, etc.); experience with 3D modeling is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas and technical information
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with project teams, consultants, and clients
  • In-depth knowledge of construction drawing/detailing for IBC Type V residential architecture and associated building systems
  • Expertise in solving complex architectural design and construction challenges
  • Solid understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural, and Civil Engineering, and the impact these have on architectural designs
  • Ability to lead and manage consulting teams, including being actively involved in the selection of structural and MEP systems and assemblies during the early design phases
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage projects at various stages of development
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with a strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they arise
  • Ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively
