Job Summary As a heavy equipment Shop Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of light duty vehicles and heavy equipment used in construction, mining, and other industries. Your expertise will ensure that equipment is running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. You will work in a well-equipped shop, using diagnostic tools and mechanical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Key responsibilities include conducting routine maintenance, repairing engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic systems, and electrical components, as well as performing inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, an in-depth knowledge of heavy machinery, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

A commitment to safety and quality is essential in this role, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with other team members and management. Experience with various heavy equipment brands and models is preferred, along with a solid understanding of maintenance schedules, repair techniques, and troubleshooting methods. What you do:

Perform diagnostic tests and identify mechanical issues in heavy machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders. Conduct repairs and overhauls on engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems to include interpretation of electrical and hydraulic schematics. Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and extend service life. Inspect and test equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed. Ensure a safe and clean working environment in compliance with safety regulations. Assist with parts inventory management and ordering of supplies, as necessary.

Qualifications:

Minimum five years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic or similar role. Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems in heavy machinery. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others. Must have experience with Various Diagnostic software programs. Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Volvo, Komatsu, and aggregate processing equipment, Including Crushers, screeners, and Stackers. Ability to lift a minimum of fifty pounds. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate various types of heavy machinery. Benefits
