Licensed Practical Nurse
to join our team! Our goal is to provide the highest level of care, utilizing the latest, clinically proven techniques to diagnosis and treat a wide variety of urological disorders in men and women. Our LPN's play a crucial role in daily patient flow. An energetic individual that is able to multitask and provide excellent patient care will find the most success in this role. We are located at 105 Keene Street Columbia, MO! Urology Associates of Central MO is a division of Missouri Cancer Associates and affiliated with the US Oncology Network! SCOPE: Under direct supervision, assists physicians and clinicians with patient care duties in a clinical environment. Promotes efficient patient flow and patient care, i.e., exams, and procedures. Performs clinic support tasks including miscellaneous clerical tasks. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities
Receive phone calls and messages and return calls to patients and/or family in a timely manner. Triage patients and review with physician as necessary Review the patient's medical record prior to visit to verify completeness, including having test results available. Obtain vital signs, height, weight, and current accurate list of medications and pertinent information needed for the physician to assess the patient. Perform straight, foley, & suprapubic catheter changes and care. Administer bladder treatments and chemotherapy via catheter. Prepare and administer IM and SQ medications as ordered by physician. Perform and assist with specimen collection and venipuncture with a valid physician's order. Assist with set up of office procedures, including both clean and sterile techniques. Perform or assist office procedures according to training and scope of practice. Send prescription refills for approval by physician. Complete medical forms and correctly complete and route billing information to appropriate staff. (Example disability forms etc.) Document in the medical record accurately and timely. Educate patient for ordered testing and medications as indicated. Notify physician promptly of abnormal lab results, testing results or critical results and review results and orders as necessary. Restock and clean exam rooms after use. Maintain confidentiality of information obtained in the course of performing duties.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing. This position requires at least 3 years' experience as a practical nurse. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state. Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
