$57,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr Director of Youth and Family Ministry – $57,000 - $65,000– Portland, OR The Role Do you have a heart for guiding young people in their faith journey? Are you skilled in creating engaging and meaningful youth programs that encourage spiritual growth? We are looking for a Director of Youth and Family Ministry to lead and develop our youth ministry at St. Luke Lutheran Church. This role will inspire and support middle and high school students, helping them build a strong faith foundation and a sense of belonging within our community. Key Responsibilities: As the Director of Youth and Family Ministry, you will: Lead and organize youth ministry programs, including Sunday meetings, midweek gatherings, and Confirmation. Develop and deliver faith-based curriculum in consultation with the Pastors. Plan and oversee youth events such as retreats, service trips, and holiday programs. Support and engage with youth and families, fostering meaningful relationships. Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist in youth ministry activities. Ensure a safe and welcoming environment by implementing safeguarding procedures. Work closely with church leadership to integrate young people into worship and community life. Manage youth ministry communication, including social media and newsletters. Participate in staff meetings and collaborate on church-wide initiatives. Develop and oversee a structured youth ministry program. Organize and lead faith-based activities, including special events and service projects. Build strong relationships with youth and their families. Train and coordinate volunteers to support ministry efforts. Ensure effective communication through social media, newsletters, and church announcements. Manage program schedules, budgets, and resources. Collaborate with Pastors on faith milestones such as Confirmation and youth-led services. The Person We are looking for someone who: Has experience in youth ministry and a strong understanding of adolescent development. Holds a relevant degree or certification in Children’s and/or Youth Ministry. Understands and embraces Lutheran theology and ELCA traditions. Has excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Is able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Can engage and inspire young people in their faith journey. Is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all youth.
