Position Description: The Director of Shelter Operations provides leadership and oversight for all shelter programs at the 1312 F St facility and the outreach program at Lighthouse Mission Ministries (LMM). The Director collaborates closely with other LMM programs and community partners to facilitate comprehensive support for residents along the continuum of care. Additionally, they assist in managing the program budget, foster community engagement, and uphold best practices in shelter operations to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Responsibilities:
Program Oversight & Strategy: Collaborate with the Senior Director of Shelter Operations to develop and implement strategies that create a resource-rich, supportive environment, focusing on Base Camp, enhanced shelter, and Outreach Services. Ensure all programs align with LMM's mission, vision, and values. Staff Supervision & Development: Oversee case management services, including staff supervision, caseload assignments, and coordination with external agencies. Provide coaching and professional growth opportunities for Shelter Operations staff. Interdepartmental & Community Collaboration: Work closely with program leadership to ensure seamless coordination. Build and maintain relationships with ministry partners, government agencies, and social service organizations; participate in relevant committees. On-Site Services & Events: Organize medical and vaccine clinics, day services, special events, and holiday planning in collaboration with external partners. Support volunteer and intern engagement, including college internships and recovery apprentices. Training & Compliance: Facilitate staff and volunteer training, oversee program policies, and ensure documentation and compliance with best practices. Manage budgets, approve expenditures, and oversee in-kind donation distribution. Resident Support & Crisis Response: Address resident concerns, oversee reentry planning for restricted residents and provide emergency response, including after-hours support. Faith Leadership & Mission Alignment: Lead prayer and devotionals, fostering a Christ-centered, grace-based environment. Maintain a professional and compassionate presence. Organizational Relationships:
Directly supervise Shelter Operations Manager and Case Managers. Indirectly supervise Program Staff. Works alongside a team of staff, volunteers and interns. Represents LMM and specifically Shelter Programs and Outreach to other social service agencies. Reports directly to the Senior Director of Shelter Operations Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have the education, experience, and skills necessary to fulfill all aspects of the role, including:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's in Human Services, Addiction Recovery, Biblical/Christian Studies, or related field, with 4+ years in ministry, emergency shelter, or similar settings. Lived experience preferred. Faith & Mission Alignment: Passion for evangelism, discipleship, and mercy ministry. Must align with LMM's Statement of Faith and Life & Personal Covenant. Expertise & Leadership: Strong background in case management, trauma-informed care, and addiction recovery. Supervisory experience with a collaborative leadership style. Interpersonal & Problem-Solving: Excellent relational and communication skills. Ability to navigate crises, maintain boundaries, and work in a fast-paced environment. Certifications & Compliance: CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid/CPR/AED, and Food Handling within the first year. Must pass background screenings and comply with drug-free policies. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Intermittent high-stress environment Standing 30%; walking 30%; sitting 40%; ability to walk up and down stairs and navigate all areas of the facility. Possible exposure to a variety of illnesses. Both inside and outside activities regardless of weather. Ability to rapidly deal with emergencies and respond outside of business hours as needed.
