Chairperson, Abbey Theatre – Amharclann na Mainistreach
The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media is seeking to appoint a Chairperson for the Board of the Abbey Theatre. This role requires experience in governance, strategic oversight, and a strong interest in theatre. Key responsibilities include supporting the Executive and Artistic Co-Directors, ensuring ethical governance, and acting as an advocate for the theatre’s vision. Requirements: Previous board membership experience, ideally as chair Experience with fundraising-dependent boards Knowledge of corporate governance and compliance Strong interest in theatre Significant time commitment Awareness of climate change impacts Experience in stakeholder relationships Experience with capital investment projects Understanding of best practices in the theatre sector Application Process:
