Our client is a dynamic, growing investment firm with a team of approximately 50 professionals. They pride themselves on fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture, and are seeking a dedicated HR Manager to support their people and business needs.
The Role
As the HR Manager , you will be the firm’s sole HR contributor, serving as both a strategic thought partner to leadership and the go-to expert for all things HR. You’ll oversee the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding, while managing payroll, benefits, and compliance with accuracy. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of high-level HR strategy and hands-on execution.
Culture is 4+ days onsite in the office
Key Responsibilities
HR Operations & Compliance
- Serve as the sole HR resource, managing all aspects of HR for a team of both salaried and hourly employees
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour regulations.
- Partner with leadership to develop and refine HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Process payroll using Paycom , ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, 401(k), and leave policies.
- Handle open enrollment, benefits inquiries, and vendor relationships.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing HR counsel on performance management, disciplinary actions, and employee development.
- Develop and oversee performance action plans, coaching managers through complex HR matters.
- Handle sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
Talent Management & Onboarding
- Own the onboarding and offboarding process, ensuring a seamless experience for employees.
- Support hiring managers with recruitment processes, job descriptions, and interview coordination.
- Conduct new hire orientation and drive engagement initiatives.
HR Analytics & Reporting
- Leverage Excel to analyze payroll, compensation, and workforce data.
- Track key HR metrics and provide insights to leadership to drive decision-making.
What You Bring
- Hands-on Expertise – You’re comfortable handling everything from high-level strategy to detailed HR administration.
- Payroll & Benefits Knowledge – Experience with Paycom or similar payroll/HRIS systems is a plus.
- Strong Math & Excel Skills – You enjoy working with numbers, tracking data, and ensuring accuracy.
- HR Compliance Savvy – Strong knowledge of California (and San Francisco) employment laws and best practices.
