Travel Department: Labor and Delivery Radius Rule: 100 miles # of L&D Beds: 9 - # of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 2 - # of Triage beds: 7 - # of Births per day: Average 9/day, 250 a month, 3000 per year. - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios: Try to follow 1:1 or 1:2, 2 patients is pretty common. - Required Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWOHNN-Intermediate or Advanced. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: 28 weeks and above, lot of HTN, 7-10% no prenatal care, high Spanish speaking, tele monitoring. Spanish speaking would be great. - Experience: Must be able to do a vaginal exam (if come from teaching facility-they have less skill since medical students/residents do these). Scalp electrodes, Circulate a C-section, Newborn transitions, Assist anesthesiology, IV starts, Blood draws, APGARS assignments-must know, Postpartum hemorrhage control- SIM lab coming-fall 2023, Epidurals, Amnio infusion. Water birth-not a must have, just for knowledge. Preferred: experience with spinning babies. - Are RNs required to titrate drips: Magnesium, Pitocin, insulin, blood. - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift: Yes, free charge. - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit: OB Techs. - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7: Yes
