High School Science Teacher

We are seeking a High School Science Teacher who is passionate about engaging, data-informed, and hands-on science instruction. The ideal candidate will use problem-based learning, culturallyresponsive teaching, and real-world applications to empower students in grades 9-12 and todevelop critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and technical skills that prepare them for success.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Developmen t
• Teach multiple sections of mixed-level Science courses across four academic quarters,
ensuring alignment with NGSS and CO Academic standards and CHSC’s alternative education model.
• Design and implement problem-based and experiential learning curricula that promote scientific literacy and inquiry.
• Develop and provide capstone competency demonstrations for students to show mastery of core high school science skills.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students, including multilingual learners and students needing credit recovery.
• Incorporate real-world scientific applications, interdisciplinary projects, and outside-the- building learning opportunities.
Data-Informed Instruction & Student Support
• Use common assessments and analyze student data to drive instructional decisions and tailor learning experiences to student needs.
• Design and implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress, adjust instruction, and implement targeted interventions.
• Participate in quarterly network data meetings to analyze student achievement trends and develop action plans.• Implement academic response to intervention (RTI) strategies for students who need additional academic support and progress monitor to ensure all students grow and achieve.
• Utilize various digital platforms (e.g., Infinite Campus, Google Classroom) to monitor attendance, post grades, and deliver assignments.
Collaboration & Professional Growth
• Co-teach and collaborate with colleagues to meet diverse student learning needs through interdisciplinary projects and instructional support.
• Work closely with the instructional coach, special education team, and administration to continuously refine instructional practices.
• Engage in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), department meetings, coaching sessions, instructional professional development, and staff team-building activities to enhance instructional effectiveness and school culture.
Student Engagement & Classroom Culture
• Establish and maintain high expectations while developing strong, supportive relationships with students.
• Create an inclusive, student-centered classroom environment that fosters scientific curiosity, collaboration, and creativity.
• Actively incorporate Restorative Justice practices to promote student accountability and positive behavior.
• Conduct after-school study halls and targeted interventions to support student success.
• Teach at least one after-school enrichment offering during the school year, aligned with student interests and academic growth.
Family & Community Engagement
• Maintain consistent communication with families through phone calls, Parent-Teacher
Conferences, and CHSC Family Nights.
• Collaborate with community partners, STEM organizations, and industry professionals to provide students with hands-on learning opportunities and career exposure.
Other Responsibilities:
• Support student recruitment, enrollment, and retention efforts.
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives, events, and experiential learning opportunities that foster student engagement.

Required Qualifications:
○ One of the following:
○ Subject matter endorsement on a Colorado teaching license
○ Bachelor’s degree or higher with major in subject matter
○ 36 semester credit hours in subject matter
○ Passing score in subject matter on Praxis exam
○ Commitment to equitable and inclusive practices through professional learning and individual desire
○ Strong knowledge of teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related tosecondary learners
○ Ability to align curriculum, performance tasks, and assessments with state content standards
○ Strong communication, organization, and planning skills
○ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly, facilitating positiverelationships with students and coworkers
○ Problem solving skills
○ Proficiency in the use of technology
○ Permanent US work authorization
Desired:
○ Experience working with young people who have struggled personally or academically in conventional school settings.
Preferred qualifications• Spanish language ability
• Master's degree in a Science-related field
Compensation:
The starting salary for this position is between $57,263 - $86,841 depending on education and experience. The maximum salary for this position is approximately $90,000. A comprehensive benefits package is included. Teachers are eligible for the Federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program.
