Senior Civil Engineer (Hybrid – Jacksonville, FL)

Position Summary

This is a Hybrid role requiring occasional onsite presence at the corporate office in Jacksonville, FL (once a month or as needed for meetings). The candidate must have design/engineering experience with an engineering consulting firm or a civil design firm .

The Senior Civil Engineer will support the Iraq combined cycle power projects by reviewing and verifying civil design deliverables, including foundations, concrete structures, steel structures, earthworks, and underground works . The role involves working closely with the Engineer of Record (EOR), OEMs, and procurement teams , ensuring compliance with applicable codes, contract requirements, and best engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Review & Verification:

  • Review and validate civil engineering deliverables from the EOR, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and industry standards .
  • Provide expertise in foundation design (static & dynamic), piling, structural steel, and earthworks .
  • Assess technical specifications, engineering studies, and construction feasibility.
  • Support vendor engagement by reviewing technical proposals and specifications for CAS (Civil, Architectural & Structural) components .

Project Coordination & Execution:

  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, OEMs, and consultants to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure timely submission, review, and acceptance of vendor-provided engineering submittals .
  • Assist with major equipment procurement by providing technical guidance on CAS-related components.
  • Conduct field engineering support as needed for Iraq site teams.

Compliance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure adherence to ASCE, ASTM, ACI, NEC, ISO, BS, and OSHA codes and standards.
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations and review engineering documents for accuracy.
  • Identify risks and recommend improvements in design methodology.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration:

  • Act as the civil engineering expert in project discussions.
  • Provide engineering support for multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring seamless coordination with electrical, mechanical, and procurement functions.
  • Develop and track project actions, ensuring timely resolution of issues.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Proven design/engineering experience with an engineering consulting firm or civil design firm .
  • Experience in civil design for power plants or utility projects , including:
  • Earthworks, foundation design (static & dynamic), piling, embedment, anchoring, structural steel, and underground piping .
  • Design of concrete & steel buildings for industrial applications .
  • Familiarity with industry codes : ASCE, ASTM, ACI, NEC, ISO, BS, OSHA.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment .

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree (M.S.) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (desired but not required).
  • Experience on projects exceeding $250M USD .
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D CAD software .
  • Knowledge of engineering/construction scheduling and execution .

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Full-time position with occasional overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Travel: <10% (occasional local day travel may be needed).
  • Hybrid/Remote role – Requires onsite presence in Jacksonville, FL once a month or as needed.

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States .
