To qualify for the position of Security Specialist at (GS-0080-12/13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to. If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information). For the GS-12: Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as having responsibility in supporting security officer in the development, management and implementation of policies and procedures for information security, physical security, and personnel security of an operation. For the GS-13: Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as applying security methods or techniques in developing and implementing policies and procedures for information security, physical security, and personnel security of an operation. The purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist, responsible for the development, management, and implementation of policies and procedures for information security, physical security, personnel security, safety, and continuity of operations. This includes functioning as a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Control Officer. In conjunction with SCIF management, the incumbent will support the management of Communications Security requirements.
