We are seeking a highly experienced
Director of Construction
to lead and oversee utility-scale solar construction projects. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of large-scale solar projects, driving operational excellence, and maintaining high-quality and safety standards. This position is based in
Charlotte, NC , and requires relocation, with assistance provided. Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
Oversee the construction of utility-scale solar projects from pre-construction through commissioning, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Team Management:
Lead and mentor project managers, construction managers, site superintendents, and subcontractors, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and accountability. Scheduling & Budgeting:
Develop and manage construction schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Stakeholder Coordination:
Work closely with engineering, procurement, and development teams to align construction activities with broader project goals. Vendor & Contractor Oversight:
Select, negotiate, and manage relationships with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and performance expectations. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all projects adhere to federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry safety and quality standards. Problem-Solving:
Identify and address potential risks, conflicts, and obstacles proactively to maintain project timelines and objectives. Continuous Improvement:
Implement best practices and innovative construction methods to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and drive project success. Qualifications & Experience:
10+ years
of experience in utility-scale solar construction, with a background as a
Construction Manager, Project Manager, or Site Superintendent . Proven track record
of managing large-scale renewable energy projects from start to finish. Strong leadership skills
with experience managing cross-functional teams and subcontractors. Extensive knowledge
of solar construction methods, site logistics, permitting, and safety protocols. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities , with the ability to drive results under tight deadlines. Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools, and project tracking systems. Willingness to relocate
