The following duties and responsibilities are essential to the role, though additional tasks may be assigned as needed. Lead and manage a team of five (5) full-time accounts payable staff, including performance evaluations, hiring, training, and professional development.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all accounting-related functions to provide training, backup support, and guidance on vendor payments, expense reimbursements, client refunds, and escrow transactions via checks, ACHs, wires, and credit cards.
Ensure a high level of customer service to internal teams and business professionals.
Develop and implement efficient accounting procedures aligned with company policies, departmental needs, and vendor requirements.
Oversee training and support for other departments regarding accounting procedures, ensuring accurate preparation and submission of financial documentation.
Audit accounts payable processes to maintain accuracy, quality control, and adherence to internal controls.
Investigate and resolve accounting-related questions, issues, and discrepancies raised by personnel.
Execute special projects and provide accounting-related reports and insights as requested.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role includes direct supervision and management of employees, ensuring their effective performance, coordination, and development. Responsibilities include:
Interviewing, hiring, and training staff.
Planning, assigning, and overseeing work.
Evaluating performance and providing feedback.
Managing employee recognition, discipline, and issue resolution.
Making recommendations on hiring, promotions, compensation, and terminations in alignment with company policies and applicable laws.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of accounts payable experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role within a professional services or corporate environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
