Punahou School is actively seeking a Part Time Temporary Extended Learning Theatre Assistant who will work closely with the Punahou School K-12 Theatre Director to support an expanding K-12 Co-Curricular Theatre program dedicated to the education of the whole student. They will incorporate an education-based performing arts concept into the curriculum and work actively to promote and continuously align the Co-Curricular Theatre program with the Punahou mission statement. In addition to teaching and leading the co-curricular theatre program, this position may also teach/support middle school theatre electives, as the Jr. School schedules allow, support clubs and theatre activities, PUEO, community outreach, and other opportunities for theatre to be reflected in the Punahou K-12 curriculum. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide theatre instruction in a variety of genres to students in Grades K-8 during both the academic school year and summer theatre program.
Teach 4-5 after school theatre classes for grades K-8 in creative dramatics, improvisational theatre and/or acting on camera, or acting and audition technique.
Serve as a Substitute Teacher on an as-needed basis for classes or a variety of theatre genres and grade levels during the 5-7 week summer program.
Collaborate with and support the Director in day-to-day operations and communications.
Serve as a Substitute Teacher on an as-needed basis during the school year.
As part of the Co-Curricular Theatre Faculty, plan and instruct classes, supervise students, and attend department meetings.
Position Details:
Work Year: 10.5 months
School Year: 2025-2026, June - December 2025
Work Hours: Summer: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Fall: Monday - Thursday, 10:00 AM - 6PM, with occasional after hours/weekends for rehearsals and productions. Schedules may vary based on operational needs.
Minimum Hourly Rate*: $27.00 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in theatre performance, education or instruction.
Two (2) years of demonstrated success in teaching and engaging young theatre students in a group setting.
Proficient with office technologies, including Google Workspace (i.e. Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Forms); Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint); educational systems (i.e. Blackbaud); and other educational systems.
